Three Building Blocks
Bird Brain Documentary

The infographic really helped me gather more information on birds and habitat loss. I posted this on Twitter and people were really shocked to find out that the statistics of the birds lost within the last 50 years were 2.9 billion. This also helped shape my argument for the Advocacy Project.
This was a good building block for the final essay because this assignment was what made me choose the topic on birds and cognition. I became really interested and curious about the topic. I learned how intelligent birds can be from the string pull test and other abilities.

Big Three Assignments

Doing the Big Three assignments helped with the foundation for my Literature review. The process circle helped me in understanding the article as well as analyzing it. The results were useful in helping me with the final conclusions of the study.
Peer Review
The power of peer review is for us to see our mistakes and fix them. It is important to have a full understanding of the topic. Overall, I have learned that peer review is not only beneficial to the person receiving it, but it is also beneficial to the person giving it as a result of doing the work in this class. I do believe that "to give is better than to receive." This is because reading through other's works and finding flaws in them, helps you be a better writer. In addition, you can gain more ideas through the peer-review process. I have learned to value talking about my writing with another writer, as it was a helpful experience.
Best Peer Review Advice I Gave

This was a comment I gave on one of my peers' Literature Review. The advice was on the information on the authors of the research study. I chose this because in order to make a good and credible essay, the credibilty of the authors should be mentioned
Peer Review Advice I Gave That Wasn't So Great

This assignment was from the review of the research agenda page. The advice was about how the annotated bibliographies were written. This peer review was not my greatest because I only mentioned the good things, and I should have included things she should improve on.
Best Peer Review Advice I Got From Weeks 1-5

This assignment was from the Bird Brain documentary blog post. The advice was on how birds are ruled by intelligence rather than instinct. I think this was a good peer review advice because I might have missed something in the documentary that made me think otherwise.
Best Peer Review Advice I Got From Weeks 6-10

This assignment was from the peer review of my Literature Review. The advice was about how the paragraph was disorganized and I could have explained more about the procedure of the experiment. I chose this because he asked a lot of helpful questions that needed to be answered to make my review more clear.
The Review & Revision Process
Before After

In this revision, I separated the two paragraphs and added more details on the statistics of bird habitat loss. I think one major thing I struggled with is having details and explanations. Data and statistics were used to add support for my claims about the problem.
Before After

This revision is part of "clarity, sentence structure, and readability." I did not phrase the quotation appropriately. It was a bit too wordy and I did not follow the proper citations. I tried to fix this in my revision.
Before After

To make a good essay, I needed to have at least a quotation in all of my paragraphs. For "use of research," I did not meet the requirements. I used sources that are credible and convincing for a scholarly audience.
